Ascend is WebPT’s premier in-person event, and a fast, sleek, and just as powerful website is needed to match it. Ascendevent.com is built with GatsbyJS, which is a framework built with React. The primary purpose of this site is to inform potential attendees of what is happening at the event and to sign users up for the event. Much of the site has a tight connection with Bizzabo, an event management service. Part of Bizzabo’s offering is to syndicate some content, especially dynamic content, via APIs. I can leverage those APIs to populate page sections with Speakers and their profiles, agendas, and sign-up forms.
Leveraging React in the build process yields incredible Lighthouse scores. The page loads so fast because of Netlify’s edge network, which essentially caches the website on nodes distributed throughout the world.
